Dumb Conservative Quotes Collection

We know them and loathe them. Sometimes, they are a source of amusement. At other times they are infuriating and threatening to basic human liberties and decency. So I thought we should make our own thread mocking some of the sillier things they have said over the centuries. This is how we do it. We post a picture of them and their quote beneath that picture. I'll be the first one, starting with one of their bedrocks and leading figures.
